Report from Winter Executive Board Meeting

Twenty members of the TACAC Executive Board met in San Antonio January 27-28 for the quarterly executive meeting. These meetings allow the committee chairs, president's council, and delegates time to plan for the direction of the organization, share feedback and ideas about ongoing or upcoming initiatives, and work to realize the goals of TACAC.

The focus of the winter meeting was strategy planning and fiduciary planning. In the course of our strategy planning conversation, we quickly realized that we needed a more comprehensive view of TACAC's programs throughout the year in conjunction with NACAC programs and larger admission timeline calendar.  Calendar-based planning and alignment of programs will continue down to sub-committees and other TACAC events over the next several months.

In the course of these discussions, we gained a better appreciation for just how much TACAC does during the year. By clarifying the big-picture view of the organization's efforts, we will be able to coordinate communication efforts, maximize sponsorship opportunities, and find other efficiencies to make TACAC as effective as possible in its work.

The executive board also spent time reviewing TACAC's finances. Vanessa Gibson, treasurer, presented information about the fiduciary health of the organization and options for investing our money for better returns. Vanessa has also recently added information to the TACAC website (behind the member log-in) about the finances of TACAC.

Members of the executive board work to serve the members of TACAC and the students our organization serves and we look forward to continuing that work at April's meeting, which takes place just before the Annual Conference. If you ever have questions about serving on the executive board or serving as a program/committee chair, feel free to reach out to any member of TACAC's leadership.
