Committee Info: Professional Development

In our Committee Spotlight this month, we will be touching base with Jordan Sass and Micah Lyles Co-Chairs of the Professional Development Committee. When you hear the phrase “professional development” what comes to mind? A long drawn out day? A boring monotone speaker in a dark room? Well forget what you know about professional development as we explore the opportunities from the TACAC Professional Development Committee.

This committee is responsible for designing and implementing a variety of programs that allow the TACAC membership to continue to learn and network with other members. This is something that speaks personally to both Jordan and Micah.

Micah has been a member of TACAC for 10 years and has been involved with Drive In Workshops and the Admission and College Counseling Institute. “Having served as a public school counselor for 17 years, I know how difficult is can be to find accessible professional development related to college admissions.”

Jordan, a member of TACAC since 2008, felt compelled to give back to the organization. “Since professional development is at the heart of what TACAC is all about, I jumped at the opportunity to serve TACAC and its members in this capacity.”

Throughout the year, there are many programs offered through the Professional Development Committee. These are a mix of online and face to face opportunities. Stay tuned to the blog or explore the TACAC website to learn more about the programs of the Professional Development Committee.
