About Us
Chartered in 1979, TACAC is one of 23 state and regional affiliates of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). TACAC supports NACAC's mission to support and advance the work of counseling and enrollment professionals as they help all students realize their full educational potential, with particular emphasis on the transition to postsecondary education. TACAC is committed to promoting high professional standards that foster ethical and social responsibility.
TACAC is action-oriented. The association:
- Aggressively promotes access to post-secondary education for all Texans
- Provides professional continuing education opportunities for members
- Keeps abreast and when necessary acts on legislative issues that affect college admissions and secondary education
- Supports the role of guidance counselors in their schools and recognizes the importance of the service they provide

The Statement of Principles of Good Practice, a code of ethics for the college admission process, was the impetus for the National Association for College Admission Counseling's creation in 1937 and is the foundation on which the association operates. Members cooperate in the development of programs and services in post secondary counseling, admission and financial aid to eliminate bias and to promote the dignity, worth and potential of all students.
