Committees

    At the heart of our o rganization is the active involvement of each TACAC member. Together, we serve students and develop as admissions professionals. To join a committee, please complete a committee interest form! To contact a specific committee chair, please refer to the contact page.

    Admissions Practices Educates members on NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice and monitors compliance.

    Camp College Develops and runs an early intervention college preparation program targeted to prepare under-represented students for college.

    Communications Keeps the membership informed about local and national concerns. Topics such as the national meeting, statewide educational concerns, workshops, new faces and places, and much more. Produces the TACAC newsletter, sends electronic communication and updates the TACAC website.

    Conference Planning Develops, coordinates, and implements the annual spring conference. Conference Planning Subcommittees:

    Diversity/Strategic Planning Addresses concerns and needs regarding diversity, equity, and access. Develops and implements TACAC's mission and long-term goals.

    Government Relations Monitors and advocates for state and federal legislation relating to counseling and college admission.

    Human Relations Assesses the needs of underrepresented admission counselors, secondary counselors, and students. Develops programs to meet those needs and build relations. Encourages sensitivity to those who have been denied options available to others.

    Membership Promotes membership in TACAC and NACAC.

    Mentorship Connects individuals new to the profession with experienced professionals who will mentor and support those individuals. Develops professional growth activities through networking and involvement.

    NACAC College Fair Assists the National office in the planning and coordination of annual NACAC College Fairs in Austin and Houston.

    Nominating and Awards Monitors established procedures for nomination and election of officers of TACAC, solicits names and candidates for recognition awards, and administers procedures relating to such special awards. Committee members serve as tellers at the annual spring business meeting.

    Professional Development Communicates with the membership regarding professional development topics and programs at local, state, and national levels. Prepares programs for the annual conference.
