The Admission and College Counseling Institute is held each summer, typically for a week in late July. Designed for high school counselors and new college admission professionals, the Institute consists of both joint and separate higher education and secondary sessions. Joint sessions include student application case studies and a mock college fair. Several evening activities provide opportunities for college admission representatives, high school counselors, and resident faculty to visit informally. The goal for college participants is to prepare new admission counselors for the range of experiences they will encounter as university representatives. All participants should leave with an understanding of the importance of their role in the lives of prospective college students and will receive tools to help them on the job.
ACCI 2009 will be held at the University of Texas at San Antonio 1604 Campus July 20 - 24, 2009. Please look for more information in early 2009.
The ACCI site rotates on a three-year cycle. 2009 will be the last year on the UTSA campus, so we are looking for colleges or universities who are interested in hosting the institute in the 2010-2012 cycle. If your institution is insterested in hosting ACCI, please complete the Call for Proposal; send completed documents to Nancy Fomby. The deadline for submission is December 1, 2008; the committee will then make site visits in January and February. Decisions will be made early in 2009 so that the selected institution can shadow the site coordinators at UTSA during the planning and execution of the upcoming ACCI.
