Welcome to the New School Year!

Dear TACAC Family,

On behalf of the TACAC Executive Board, I want to welcome you to the new school year. It is an exciting time to be part of the TACAC Family. Over the past several months, we have been working hard to make 2018-2019 the best year ever.

This past July, I had the privilege of attending the NACAC Leadership Development Institute with TACAC President-Elect, Micah Lyles and TACAC Past President, Angelica Melendez. In addition to meeting the new candidates for the NACAC Board of Directors and NACAC President-Elect, we were energized by a great session on cultural fluency that challenged us to constantly seek our “what” to get to our “why.” If you know your “why,” your “what” becomes more impactful because you are walking towards or in your purpose. I encourage you to watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytFB8TrkTo

It is amazing to think that the 2019 Annual NACAC Conference is mere weeks away.  I look forward to seeing you in Salt Lake City!  I encourage you attend the Texas Membership meeting on Thursday, September 27th at 4:45pm in Room 150 of the Salt Lake City Convention Center.

In addition, I will encourage you to attend this year’s general membership meeting. The meeting will take place on Saturday, September 29th at 2:30pm and is very important for TWO reasons.  First, we will be voting on the proposed NACAC membership model cost restructure (https://www.nacacnet.org/globalassets/documents/membership/proposedmembershipmodel.pdf).  Next, I am delighted to announce that Lynn Slaughter will receive the Watson Award at the 2018 NACAC Conference.  The award will be presented to her husband at that meeting.  I hope to see you there.

As you can tell, there’s a lot going on now and in the future!  So, welcome to an exciting new school year and thank you for your continued support. As always, I invite you to get involved in the TACAC Family through the gifts of your time.

One love.

 Mickey Saloma
