Admission and College Counseling Institute (ACCI)

ACCI is a four-day, in-resident, interactive professional development experience where new counseling and higher education professionals can build counseling strengths, network, and develop a toolkit of necessary skills needed to counsel today’s college-bound students.

What to expect:

  • TACAC's most comprehensive professional development experience!
  • Comprised of joint and separate higher education and secondary hands-on activities, informative and timely sessions, led by a team of faculty with decades of experience to share.
  • The goal of ACCI is to prepare new counseling and higher education professionals for the range of experiences they will encounter, including case studies, college fairs, recruiting recommendation letter writing, working with families, and much more.

All participants should leave with an understanding of the importance of their role in the lives of prospective college students and the confidence to help our students succeed in higher education.

Testimonials:

“ACCI was a very cool, and unique experience. It allowed me to come back into my office with confidence because of the valuable information and training that I received while there. Not only did I learn so much, but I also had the opportunity to make connections with so many people that I ended up seeing on the road.”  -Monyce Fleming, Southwestern University (2022 HiEd Cohort)

“Starting out my first year as a college counselor serving high school students and their families ACCI was a critical part of my preparation. This conference gave me the opportunity to learn from other professionals, build a network with higher education partners and bring back a wealth of knowledge to serve my students. The workshops also provided me with various resources to successfully start my role this year and my mentor has always been a call away.” -Maggy Goergen, Yes Prep Charter School (2022 Secondary Cohort)

“I was about 6 months into my new career as a college recruiter so I had some experience already out in the field but being able to be around other recruiters and Admissions Counselors to see what works for them and what doesn’t was very beneficial to taking back to Grayson College.” -Audra Talley, Grayson College (2022 HiEd Cohort)
