Admission and College Counseling Institute (ACCI)

ACCI is a three-day, in-resident, interactive professional development experience where new secondary and higher education professionals can build counseling strengths, network, and develop a toolkit of necessary skills needed to counsel today’s college-bound students.

What to expect:

  • TACAC's most comprehensive professional development experience!
  • Comprised of joint and separate higher education and secondary hands-on activities, informative and timely sessions, led by a team of faculty with decades of experience to share.
  • The goal of ACCI is to prepare new admission counselors and secondary professionals for the range of experiences they will encounter, including case studies, college fairs, recruiting recommendation letter writing, working with families, and much more.

All participants should leave with an understanding of the importance of their role in the lives of prospective college students and the confidence to help our students succeed in higher education.

Upcoming Event:

2023 dates will be announced later this fall.

Testimonials

"ACCI is a community of admissions professionals and school counselors who are rooting for me every step of the way in my Admissions journey! I continue to reach out to my ACCI mentor for guidance and she has been a great resource in helping me navigate through my career in higher education!" - Christina Cao, University of St. Thomas (2018 HiEd Cohort)

"Being new to higher education in my career, the TACAC ACCI was crucial in preparing me for what my new role would entail. The conference is led by experienced, knowledgeable and passionate leaders, and they created a sense of community. I love that it feels like a reunion when our "cohort" touches base from time to time. Just like summer camp!" - Aubony Crenshaw Alonzo, Austin Community College | San Gabriel Campus (2019 HiEd Cohort)

ACCI provided me with a strong foundation going into my first year as a college advisor.  More importantly, it provided me with mentors who have throughout the year, continued to provide me with resources to make me more productive for my students.”  -Sukdeep Saur, Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy - Houston ISD
