Zoom-In Workshops 

To support school-based and CBO counselors as they prepare students for post-secondary studies, TACAC is rebranding Drive-In Workshops as Zoom-Ins for the 2023-2024 school year! No more worries about traffic or tight schedules, just hop on your computer and listen in. You'll gain information from seasoned professionals in order to better assist students with selecting a college, navigating the application process, and more! We plan to host four Zoom-Ins throughout the year, each with a topic pertinent to the time of year and/or the current landscape of college admissions.

Helping Students Plan a Meaningful Summer: Hear from high school counselors about ways to work with students to plan engaging, meaningful summers.

Unpacking and Helping Students and Families Understand Financial Aid Offers: Hear from college admissions and financial aid officers to learn how high school counselors can help students and families understand the details of and compare offers from different schools.

Call for Presenters:

Have a favorite topic or idea that you'd like to share with others? Want to collaborate with a colleague to share some tips? Looking for a new opportunity to grow professionally? Zoom-in workshops might be just the place for you!

Previous topics have included (but are not limited to):

  • financial aid and FAFSA completion
  • holistic review in college admissions
  • the role of letters of recommendation
  • NCAA guidelines and recruitment tips
  • ideas for helping students craft a great essay
  • how to manage your caseload, high school profiles
  • resources for counselors, organizing a college fair
  • having difficult conversations
  • sending your artists to college
  • working with different populations of students
